We're off! 

Jacqueline is heading to Quilt Market this week (the trade show for the quilting industry) to share Handmade Getaway and our Kickstarter success with the world. 

She'll be in the Soak booth, 1511. Please come and say hello if you are at the show. She'll have 'publisher copies' of the book, which is an almost perfect book that we use to proof, just before going to the printer. We would also love to have photos of anyone who purchased the book in our booth!

We are beginning to sell the 'soft cover' edition of the book, which will launch two months after you all receive your 'hard cover' Kickstarter hand-numbered editions. If you are at the show, you will be able to order more Hard Cover books, but rest assured anyone who orders the book for the first time, will not be receiving hand-numbered hard cover books, like you.

We don't want you to be surprised if you see the book at the trade show! EE Schenck, a distributor based in Portland will also have the book in their booth for distribution. If you know other shop owners who would like to purchase the book now, please send them to Jacqueline at the Soak booth, 1511. Or, have them email [email protected]. 

Karyn is not attending market (sadly), as she's implementing the final edits so the book can go to the printer this week. So exciting! 

When the books arrive back from the printer (date TBC), all of the books purchased in support of our amazing Kickstarter project will ship, and approximately two months later, any new order for the soft cover book will begin to ship. 

You'll have first access to the book, because you supported us at the very start with this campaign. We will always be thankful for your support and for believing in our book.

Editing all the pages, all the time. We're almost ready to print!

Hello!  

We've been immersed in editing, under the hundreds of magical book pages (well, staring at our computers) and we're so close to sending the book to the printer. We've done all we need to do to bring you a beautiful hardcover edition of Handmade Getaway.  

We're heading to Quilt Market next week (booth 1511 if you’ll be there), to start sharing the book with the world! We're so thankful that you've helped us get here. 

We are so excited about the hand-numbered hardcover edition (watch for our next update), so your book will be exclusive to you, and unlike any others sold in the world moving forward. Our Kickstarter backers, (both individuals and retailers) will be the only ones with access to the hard cover first edition. You'll also have your copy(s) long before stores carry the soft cover edition.

Most of you have completed your survey and for that, we say, Thank you! We hope you ordered one of our fun Handmade Getaway tote bags, or ordered extra books for family and friends alike. You can order more ‘Hard Cover’ copies until the pre-orders are locked down. (Others who go directly to Backerkit will only see the soft cover edition.)

We will share our shipping timeline once the book goes to the printer. For those of you who are local, we’ll have a big pick-up launch party weekend at the workroom as well. Date TBD.  

We’re so excited to ‘hit send’ on the final file, seeing it off to the printer. We will let you know when that happens and we will be in touch soon. In the meantime, feel free to order more hardcover books and tell your friends to check out our website!

Stretch Goal Achieved! 153% Funded!

Hooray! Once again the power of this incredible community rallied around to boost us up and over our stretch goal late Monday night. It was so heartwarming to see your strong response when we put out the call asking for a bit more help to make our Handmade Getaway, first edition hardcover goal come true. The Kickstarter campaign ended at 6am Tuesday 153% funded by 779 backers! We have been overwhelmed by your support and we’re ready to jump into the next phases of making this book for you! We really can’t thank you enough for coming along on this crazy journey with us.

So what’s next? First, Kickstarter needs about two weeks to transfer over the funds, which gives us time to start on the tech editing phase. (…and to catch up on all our other projects that have patiently been waiting for our time!) Then, we will follow up with each of you to find out where to ship your reward. We are also planning a ‘reward pick-up party’ at the workroom, for local pick up and anyone else who would like to pick up their book/s/rewards when they are ready. All the fun details will be revealed when we know more! 

We have transitioned over to BackerKit, which is a great follow up platform to Kickstarter that will allow people to continue to support this project during this production phase. Each of you will receive a survey from us to collect all of your shipping details and extra reward choices when we are closer to shipping the books.

We’ll give you a heads-up before we send out the survey so that you can watch for it. There will be a special section in Backerkit for our First Edition backers where you’ll be able to add-on extra First Edition copies of the book, and other items via your survey. Right now, if you follow the Kickstarter link for our project, you’ll see that it leads to our Backerkit page, where newcomers can pre-order Second Edition copies only.

Hello Handmade Getaway Team!

We are down to the wire with 13 hours to go. We were so close to accomplishing our stretch goal of $75K and we want that hardcover first edition for you so badly! the workroom has pitched in to take one of the Lizzy House Meadow Quilt classes (there is still ONE left) to boost us within reaching distance of this dream goal. It only seems right to host this special class one more time at the shop where it all started.

As of this moment we are a mere $3500 away from our goal and we know we can get there with your help. Are you excited about a hardcover version of Handmade Getaway? We are hoping you might consider adding just $5-10 dollars to your pledge to collectively get us to our goal. With almost 750 backers this would get us there.

It’s easy to add to your pledge (or upgrade to another level). From your original backer email you can find the PLEDGE DETAILS and click ‘MANAGE’ beside it. If you didn’t create an account, you will need to do that now to make any changes.

In case you didn’t see - there is a contest on Karyn’s Instagram page - @make_something that is open to all backers. Just find the recent post showing the cover of the book.
